Several people been asking me what I’ve done to achieve my weight loss, so I will occasionally offer tips that have worked for me. I am NOT sponsored by any products or programs, but will honestly share what has worked for me.
So let’s address the topic of cardio. There are many different cardio programs out there, and a few worked perfectly for me. One of my favorites is the Body For Life Cardio program – because it takes only 20-25 minutes, is a very hard workout, but burns lots of calories and gets your heart rate up in such a way that will last longer-and you end up burning MORE calories the rest of the day. You will drip sweat…you will feel dizzy…you might even cry. So why should you give Bikram Yoga a try? Because it just makes you feel OH SO GOOD afterwards. It is the MOST challenging yoga I have ever done, but I’ve felt like a million bucks afterwards. I cannot give any factual evidence that Bikram Yoga directly causes weight loss, but it definitely does lead to increased flexibility and the release of toxins through sweating. Many people swear by it for various health benefits, and it has almost a cult following. It is time consuming and can be expensive, however, so I along with many others only go on occassion.
What is Bikram Yoga? It was the original Hot Yoga invented by the living yoga master Bikram Choudhury. His method of Hot Yoga is a set series of 26 yoga poses, including two pranayama exercises, each of which is performed twice in a single 90 minute class. I have no clue what pranayama means–but you can google it. I just know that I felt great afterwards and wanted to take better care of my body!

Yoga in general has been recommended by many health professionals and trainers because of its benefits for destressing and flexibility. There is a reason why it’s used as part of the workout routine on Biggest Losers.
Look for Bikram Yoga, or other forms of hot yoga where you live–many places offer a week pass for free or for really cheap. DO READ your local yoga center’s site for more information on how to prepare, since being hydrated and having appropriate clothing is extremely important. Don’t be scared off–it’s definitely worth a try!
